Hôtel de Beaulaincourt: a jewel of Béthune’s heritage
One of Béthune’s most remarkable monuments, the Hôtel de Beaulaincourt was built in 1750 by Philippe-Alexandre de Beaulaincourt, Count of Marles.
With its beautiful woodwork, tall windows letting in abundant light, and generous volumes, it bears witness to the art of living of a century in which people loved to feel as comfortable in their homes as they did in receiving their guests to perfection.
Confiscated from its owners during the French Revolution, it successively housed a consular chamber, a museum highlighting local heritage, the High Court and finally the municipal archives.
Purchased by a developer driven by a passion for bringing prestigious historic buildings back to life, such as Royal Hainaut in Valenciennes, the Hôtel de Beaulaincourt has undergone exemplary restoration.
Listed as a Historic Monument, it has regained its former splendour under the supervision of Vincent Brunelle, Chief Architect of Historic Monuments.
Driven by its new owner, it will perpetuate down to the smallest details the highest tradition of excellence in hospitality.
